Terms of Use

These Terms govern use of Root Cause, provided by SmartBettor, Inc. By creating an account or using the app, the user agrees to these Terms and confirms that they are at least 18 years old.

Educational service, not medical care

Root Cause helps users record food, hydration, symptoms, and skin images and explore personal, time-delayed associations. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent acne or any disease, and it does not replace professional medical advice. Automated image observations and pattern comparisons may be inaccurate and do not establish causation. Seek a qualified clinician for persistent, severe, painful, scarring, infected, or otherwise concerning symptoms and for decisions about medication or treatment.

Accounts

Users must provide accurate account information, safeguard access to their Apple account and device, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access. Accounts may not be shared or used to submit another person's health information without authorization.

User content and photo analysis

Users retain ownership of their photos, logs, and notes. Users grant us a limited license to host, transmit, process, reproduce, and analyze content only as needed to operate, secure, and support the service. Root Cause requests permission before transmitting selected photos to an external automated-analysis provider. Users must have the right to submit all content they upload.

Acceptable use

Users may not misuse the service, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with security controls, upload unlawful or harmful material, reverse engineer protected service components except where law permits, or use the service to make medical decisions for another person.

Account deletion

Users may delete individual records and may permanently delete their account in Settings > Account > Delete account. Account deletion removes active account data and original stored photos as described in the Privacy Policy and cannot be undone.

Subscriptions and billing

Root Cause may offer auto-renewable subscriptions through Apple's App Store. The paywall displays duration, localized price, introductory offer if any, and renewal terms before purchase. Unless canceled at least 24 hours before the current period ends, a subscription renews automatically. Users can manage or cancel subscriptions in their Apple Account settings and restore eligible purchases inside Root Cause. Deleting the app or a Root Cause account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription.

Availability and warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of accuracy, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, or noninfringement.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, SmartBettor, Inc. is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages or for decisions made in reliance on automated or educational app content. Applicable law may not allow all limitations.

Changes and termination

We may modify or discontinue features and may suspend accounts that violate these Terms. Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate channel.
